Things about Buenos Aires: Part Three

It’s very green. I don’t think I’ve been anywhere else where every street is lined with large leafy trees. I’m amazed they haven’t wilted or keeled over in the hot heavy air. And huge swathes of the city are given over to parks and botanical gardens and small grassy squares. I think that’s why it’s called the Paris of South America – the broad avenues, the trees – but clearly that’s nonsense. It’s the Buenos Aires of South America and Paris is the capital of France, a tiny dull place in comparison.
